Recovering debt since 1955.
Founded in New York as Stanley Tulchin Associates, STA has traded in the UK from Maidstone, Kent since 1994. Since a 2021 management buy-out, we have been owned and run by four UK managers, each with more than 20 years at STA.
Collections, Receivables, Tracing and Legal all sit within one group, with one point of accountability from first reminder to enforcement.
Seventy years of getting companies paid.
We started as a collections business and grew by adding what our clients needed next.
Stanley Tulchin Associates, trading as STA International, later added offices across the US, Mexico and the UK.
Our UK company opened in Maidstone, Kent, where it is still headquartered.
We acquired Graydon UK's debt collection business, trading as STA Graydon.
We bought back Graydon's shareholding and returned to trading as STA International.
A dedicated centre for student and consumer collections opened in Glasgow. Commercial collections stayed in Maidstone.
Four UK managers, each with more than 20 years at STA, bought the business from the Tulchin family.
STA Legal launched, bringing legal services under the STA Group umbrella, and opened a Manchester office in 2025.
Head office and commercial collections: The Drying Loft, Turkey Mill Business Park, Ashford Road, Maidstone, Kent ME14 5PP. Student and consumer contact centre: Glasgow. STA Legal: Manchester.
Every case is worked by our own UK teams. There is no outsourced call centre and no offshore team handling your ledger.
The debts that need more than a reminder.
Most debts resolve with a firm, professional conversation. These are the situations we are built for when they don't.
Recovery without the fallout
Most debts settle through structured contact and negotiation, with the customer still trading with you afterwards. Escalation is a decision, not a default.
Aged ledgers
Debt at 90, 180 or 360 days is a different job from a fresh invoice. We work it accordingly, and we tell you honestly when one is not worth pursuing.
Debtors who cannot be found
Tracing runs alongside collections, so a gone-away is a step in the process rather than the end of the file.
Cross-border collection
Debts pursued in the debtor's country, language and legal system through a network of 80 agents worldwide.
Regulated sectors
Higher and further education, and any sector where the wrong tone creates a complaint rather than a payment. Reputation is part of the brief.
Litigation, when it is right
Our sister firm STA Legal takes the cases that need court, only on your written instruction — and only when we believe it will actually recover the money.
Four commitments we do not move on.
No collection, no commission
If we do not recover, you do not pay. Our incentive and yours are the same one.
A named contact, not a queue
You deal with the same people from placement onward, and they know your ledger without being briefed again.
Honest advice on viability
We will tell you when a debt is not worth chasing. Selling you a hopeless case costs us more than it earns.
Full visibility, always
Every case live in Your Debts Online, including anything sitting with our legal team.
Regulated, accredited and accountable.
Recovery done badly creates legal and reputational risk for the creditor, not just the agency. These are the standards we are held to.
STA International Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company no. 02893487.

We have signed the Fair Payment Code, which replaced the Prompt Payment Code, and we hold ourselves to the payment behaviour we ask of others.
We also plant trees with Ecologi and support Heart of Kent Hospice, the charity our team fundraises for locally.
Seventy years of doing one thing.
Tell us what is outstanding and we will tell you what we would do with it, what it would cost, and whether it is worth pursuing at all.
