Debt recovery for subscription revenue that stopped arriving

Failed cards, lapsed direct debits, contested auto-renewals and enterprise invoices lost in procurement. Recovering it beats booking it as churn.

A lot of it is a payment that quietly failed.

Involuntary
Expired card, not cancellation

A large share of subscription churn isn't a cancellation. It's an expired card and a dunning email sent to a leaver's inbox.

Auto-renewal
Usually recoverable on the contract

Renewals disputed on notice periods are contract questions, not bad debt — and they're usually recoverable on terms the customer already signed.

Day 1
Interest most never claim

Statutory interest at 8% above base runs from the first day an undisputed invoice is overdue. Most creditors never claim it.

We understand what the contract actually says

We speak the language

MSAs and order forms, auto-renewal and notice clauses, seat true-ups, usage overage, multi-year commitments and reseller arrangements.

Legal support from day one

STA Legal, our sister firm of solicitors, can escalate the moment a case needs it, without a panel firm reading the file cold.

Recover without killing the renewal

Plenty of our SaaS cases end with the invoice settled and the customer still on the platform. Recovery and retention aren't opposites.

Built for volume and value

One enterprise invoice or a bulk file of failed subscriptions: placement and reconciliation work the same way. We collected in 154 countries last year.

Five steps, the same on every technology case.

You always know where the file sits and what happens next.

  1. 1

    Send the invoice and contract

The invoice, with the MSA or order form and any renewal correspondence.

    More detail

Invoice, MSA or order form, the renewal or notice correspondence, and usage or seat records where the billing depends on them.

  2. 2

    Assess the customer and objection

A solvency check, and an honest read on whether the renewal dispute has real contractual grounding.

    More detail

A solvency and conduct check, plus an honest read on whether a renewal dispute has real contractual grounding or is buyer's remorse with a notice clause attached.

  3. 3

    Professional, informed contact

We contact the debtor as your representative, on the contract terms.

Questions technology clients ask us

What does "No Collection, No Commission" mean?

If we don't recover anything, you pay nothing. No placement fees, no upfront costs, no hourly billing: our commission is a percentage of what we bring in, so our incentive matches yours from day one. If you decide to take a case to court, STA Legal agrees its costs with you in writing before anything is issued.

How quickly can you start?

Usually the same working day. Placing a debt through Your Debts Online takes a few minutes, and first contact with the debtor goes out within 24 hours of the file being validated. Speed matters: recovery odds drop sharply after 90 days.

What if the debtor is overseas?

We recover from debtors worldwide, and over the last year we collected in 154 countries. Most international cases are handled from our UK office and settle without proceedings, which matters, because litigating abroad often costs more than the debt. Commission is 15%. If a case needs to transfer to a local agent, the rate increases, but only with your approval.

What happens if the debtor still won't pay?

We review the file with you at 30 days and set out the options. If you decide to escalate, the case goes to our solicitors at STA Legal with its full history. They issue proceedings, obtain judgment and enforce it, with costs agreed with you before anything is issued. Escalation is always your decision, never an automatic step.

The customer is still using the product but has stopped paying. What should we do first?

Check what your contract permits on suspension before you act, because suspending in breach can hand them a defence. We'll read the terms with you and, in most cases, recovery is faster and less damaging than switching them off.

Can you handle a bulk file of failed subscription payments?

Yes. High-volume placement is standard for us — small-balance consumer and self-serve ledgers are worked differently from enterprise invoices, but both reconcile through the same reporting.
